JANUARY, 2009: We start the new year with a renewal of focus and
energy. 2009 finds us with a fourth member, Gabriel Guerena, who
has accepted the uncomfortable position of multi-instrumentalist/backup
singer. Gabriel joined us onstage for the first time on the 11th
of December at The Studio/Webster Hall. He received an
overwhelmingly positive reception. We are looking forward to a
furtherance of the Bellmer Dolls live sound at upcoming shows; expect
nothing less than utter devastation at the February 19th gig that will
take place at the Vanishing Point loft in Bushwick, Brooklyn.
Along for the ride are two of our all time favorites, A.R.E Weapons and
Services, not to mention the Faction DJ crew, in from London UK.
Our love, thanks, and admiration to Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds for the
memorable experience- also to the excellent audiences who attended in
NYC and D.C. Look for a no-holds-barred backstage exposé
in the next issue of Swoon Magazine. BTW, the new music is
mixed....
JUNE, 2008: Photographer Tim Richardson assembled a fantastic
collection of photographs that he took throughout the Charleston
residency. Have a taste.
We return to the studio next month to put the finishing touches on the
new material.
APRIL, 2008:
It's been forever since we've posted anything.
The new record is close to completion. Due to matters that are
beyond our control, we're forced into a tedious waiting game. We
are doing everything in our power to deliver the goods ASAP. In
the interim, we managed to shoot a video with Producer/Director James
Throckmorton. It was an unforgettable experience- fantastic sets,
a bit of gore, and other such niceties that will, naturally, be
revealed at the video's unveiling. We are half-way through our
residency at The Charleston. Situated in a dank, decrepit
basement underneath the oldest pub in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, the space
immediately appealed to our aesthetic; likewise the boys from Secret
Machines, who jumped at the oppourtunity to do a fantastic one-off as a
2 piece, providing much-appreciated support for our kickoff. Also
there in abundance was the enormous personality of Little Annie; she
and partner Paul Wallfisch enthralled with what must have been the most
heartfelt, authentic cabaret experience south of the ground
floor. Week two saw The Brides and Shock Cinema providing the
appropriate setting for an impending Bellmers attack; our hats off to
them.
OUT-OF-TOWN DATES
supporting the Secret Machines: The boys from
The Secret Machines positively destroyed on the 12th. These
full-band shows promise at least as much excitement. Bellmers +
Machines here:
APRIL 28th:
Northstar Bar, Philadelphia
APRIL 30th: Great
Scott, Boston
MAY 1st: Jack
Rabbit Slim's, Albany
May 4th: Pearl
Street, Northampton, Mass
REMAINING
RESIDENCY DATES:
APRIL 26th: guests
include Preacher and The Knife, Fresh Kills
MAY 3rd: guests
include Golden Triangle and The Choke
SEPTEMBER,
2007: BD performed 3 songs at Mark Ecko's sprawling HQ
as
part of fashion week. Great drinks, tarts by the wagonload, and
searing hangovers the next afternoon. Ah, fashion week in NYC....
AUGUST,
2007: Congratulations Jim and Sarah for finally tying the
knot. Now get back here Jim and help us finish this thing!
JULY, 2007: Thanks go
to
Jim, who pushed for this, and ultimately was forced to put our plane
tickets on his credit card at the zero hour; Charlie, who agreed to
front the money to get us there- and whom Jim could actually trust to
reimburse him; Omar(Popscene) who housed us, got us around, arranged
for gear, and put together one hell of an afterparty; Rykarda, who was
not only gracious enough to offer her digs, but hosted and even
performed as our support in a memorable second SF appearance; Veil Veil
Vanish, who provided gear and comaraderie; Zohra, who paid her own way
to sing backup for us; Henry Rollins, who was down-to-Earth,
supportive, and a thrill to meet and perform in front of; Jello Biafra,
who, like Henry, paid for our merchandise despite the fact that we
gifted it to him; Grinderman, for being tremendous; Slim's, for the
home-cooked meal and hospitality; everyone else who aided, abetted, or
else put up with us.
JUNE, 2007:
We just returned from a hellish drive to Des Moines
and back to pick up our new recording console. For the geeks out
there, it's a 1987 Amek Angela, manufactured in the UK. We're
hard at work on the LP. We previewed a bunch of tracks at the
Highline gig. Jim Sclavunos and our good friend Tamaryn added a
touch of class, joining in on sax and backup vocals,
respectively. Secret Machines' audience are a passionate
bunch. We met people who flew in from all over the country just
to attend- we felt the love.
We will be
supporting the already-legendary Grinderman in San Francisco
on July 27th at Slim's. See you there.
We'll be taping
for Fox Television's Fearless Music sometime in the
next couple of weeks. The program airs on Saturdays at 1am.
Have a look here.
Look for BD
features in this month's issues of The
Sentimentalist and The
Deli Magazine.
We are ecstatic to
have Charlie Charlton, formerly manager of Suede, in
the family.
We're killing
ourselves in the studio to make this next one
unforgettable. If you can't seem to find us, that's where we are.
MAY 2007:
Gearing up for our Highline appearance, we played a
warmup gig at the sometime Polish Rave warehouse, Studio B, located in
the heart of Greenpoint, Brooklyn, aka Polishville, US. The
preceeding morning, Dan and Peter scraped themselves off the floor
after a full night's revelry(Peter's birthday celebration took its
toll) to guest at East Village Radio, or EVR. The archive of that
momentous event can be found here.
APRIL 2007:
We are hard at
work in our recording studio alongside producer Jim Sclavunos.
Jim's been jetsetting between London and New York, working
triple-overtime between us, Grinderman, and The Bad Seeds. 7 of
16 new tracks are already in the works. The first, entitled
"Desire", is in the mix stages.
BELLMER DOLLS were
asked by SECRET MACHINES to be opening guests
for their
headlining gig at the brand new Highline Ballroom in Manhattan, as part
of David Bowie's High Line Festival. Naturally, we have
enthusiastically accepted. Peter recently recorded Secret
Machines at the DOLLHOUSE, BD's studio, and contributed guitar parts
as well. The date of the performance is MAY 19th.
Information and tickets may be obtained at www.highlinefestival.com/home.php.
BELLMER DOLLS'
next
performance is scheduled for May 4th
at Studio B in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Peter celebrates his
birthday. Glass Candy and the Shattered Theater and Fresh Kills
are to perform as well. More information may be obtained at http://clubstudiob.com/

OCTOBER
2006:
10-29: Thanks to all who attended. Your
numbers shone through the blinding footlights. UK/PARIS:
excitement, anticipation. More dates added. CMJ NY: We
spent time with Jim Sclavunos' other charges, The Horrors. Most
hair per capita. Fun. Tonight(10-3)
we saw The Devastations. Brilliant. We'd been grooving to
their early material for awhile. They reminded me in conversation
that we'd
originally met in Germany back when I played guitar for Tav
Falco. I
recall that they were amiable. They remember us complaining
about being forced to travel by train, with a full drum kit and amps,
plus Tav... Bellmer Dolls win The Deli Magazine's Band of

July 25:
Hidden

writing for the upcoming LP. The 13th
was a ball; thanks to everyone who made "our element".
Blessed by Jim Jarmusch: "Dark and damaged -- just how I like my
rock and roll." Enough said. Let's do a video, J.
JULY 2006:
Just
returned
from our West Coast jaunt. Feeling
destroyed. Look for a tour documentary, to be
completed in the near future. Too many people to thank,
recollections come on like a warm fluid. A standout- the
unexpected hospitality and appreciation we were met with by the people
of Mexicali, Mexico. Pics from our SF tour kickoff/record release
party can be found here.
The band is in
fine
form: Join us along with friends Blacklist on July
13th, at The Annex NYC for a memorable night with two of NYC's finest.

JUNE 2006:
The
record
release party was fantastic, complete with
virgin sacrifices and other silliness.
Look.
NEXT PERFORMANCE:
Wednesday,
June 14th at Union Pool,
Williamsburg. We're very excited with the support, which includes
Woman(our good friend Skeleton Boy has taken the role of bassist) and
the United States. We leave for the airport to commence the west
coast tour straight from the gig....
MAY 2006:
Dates

NEXT NYC-AREA
PERFORMANCE:
Tuesday, June 6th at Galapagos, 70 N6th,
Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
This event not
only
marks the
much-lamented Visions of The Apocolypse
Reunion(an excellent goth/industrial nostalgia dance party for the
uninitiated), but will also serve as THE OFFICIAL BELLMER DOLLS EP
release party. We won't be sharing the stage- expect a
devastating live set.
Bespoke Gallery has just published "Soundtrack to Nothing", a collection of photographs by Christy Bush. Peter contributed his guitar playing to the accompanying CD. Music by "The Last Night",Dagon James, Sam Fog(Interpol), Peter Mavro and Blake Olmstead with special guests Michael Stipe, Adam Franklin (Swervedriver), Grasshopper(Mercury Rev), F. A. Blasco and Atton Paul. Visit http://thelastnight.net/ or bespokegallery.net for more information.
APRIL 2006: U.S.
RELEASE
OF
"THE BIG CATS WILL THROW THEMSELVES OVER" ON 6/6/06.
The
UK/European
release of the EP is slated for early September, with a tour to
follow. A west
coast tour will commence
mid-June, along with
fellow degenerates LION FEVER plus the nefarious GRAND ELEGANCE.
This 3-headed spectacle will stagger your way under the moniker
"BACCHANALIA ANIMALIA".
MARCH 2006: BELLMER DOLLS SIGN TO NYC-BASED HUNGRY EYE RECORDS.
Plans for a mid-May/early June release of their first proper EP,
entitled "The Big Cats Will Throw Themselves Over" is already in the
works. Plans are in the works as well for European dates as
early
as this
June. Cargo Records
plan to distribute abroad, alongside a host of independent distributors
worldwide.
03.30
We attended Paper Magazine's party commemorating their "Most Beautiful
2006". Antony + 1 Johnson were on-hand, and performed a
short-but-memorable live set. Hungry Eye supplied 200 promo
copies of "The Diva" (cd enhanced- includes the live footage that can
be found elsewhere on this site) that were given away to
attendees. A good time was had by all.
03.16
A ltd. ed promo CD of one cut off the upcoming
EP("There Is No Oblivion") will accompany Peter this week (3.16-3.21)
to Athens,
Greece, where he will, in turn, accompany the infamous Carlos
D(Interpol) on a DJ
jaunt. ...must leave for the airport now....
03.15: We are proud to be amongst the many talents
chosen to grace this year's prestigious PAPER MAGAZINE annual MOST
BEAUTIFUL
issue(sounds silly, we know). Have a look for yourselves.
It's on the stands now(April 2006).
11-17-05: BELLMER
DOLLS' NEXT PERFORMANCE HAPPENS SATURDAY, the 17th of DECEMBER 10PM

10-17-05: It's been awhile since we've had a chance to
update. The 6 song EP is finally in shape. We're currently
accepting offers. Correspondence, as always, via
info@bellmerdolls.com.
Push! Push! can be had from our myspace
site. Look out
for a new AUDIO/VISUAL page that'll crop up on this site in the coming
days. We'll feature selected video from Joly(punkcast)as well as
assorted tour photos, rarities, etc. Thanks to all who managed to
find past shows that didn't find their way
to this page- we've invested in the technology and we're finally
resonably self-sufficient at updating the site's contents more or
less. The van is a whole other story. After we blind-sided
a car that ran a red light through an intersection somewhere in
Pennsylvania, our vehicle's undeniable sex appeal
became suddenly deniable. Skeleton Boy, who was along on
merch patrol, saved himself from certain death , spryly catching hold
of the dash before crashing through the
windshield. Apparently, the pilot of the wayward vehicle was
distracted by a
conversation he was having with his dog.... Anthony has
advanced his automotive repair repertoire to include front disc
brakes. We've lately been
suffering seperation anxiety of sorts, having been
forced to allow
Lion Fever to return home at the close of the tour. Thanks to
everyone who fed us,
put up with us, let us crash, bought memorabilia, held us when we cried.

05-25-05:
Famed
"champion of the underground" Todd P. has lent us an enormous space in
the basement of one of the last surviving
Victorian-era structures in
Williamsburg, which will serve as our recording space for the next
EP. Nick Cave and The Bad
Seeds' Jim
Sclavunos, fresh from a series of Australian tour dates, will
produce. Thanks to the Knitting
Factory and Jarboe
for having us last Monday
night as support- besides a guitar ending up in half and another
set of
slacks giving way in the seat-area, everything went hunky dory.
Joly of Punkcast.com caught the
whole thing on videotape; perhaps he'll post
some
footage in the near future.
Our
beautiful-looking 7"
is
available
for sale at the following sites: http://www.dogprint.com,
or http://www.insound.com.
We'll have copies available as well on our upcoming July
tour.

04-12-05:
Last
Friday were honored with an invitation to support Blues Explosion
at CBGB by none other than Jon Spencer
himself. It was almost too much excitment considering we were
only given 48 hours' notice, but the event proved to be altogether
satisfying and
unforgettable. Thanks to everyone who came out and rallied
their support last Sunday. I'm away the next couple of
weeks, after which it'll be back to business as usual. Next
confirmed
performance date: May 23 at
The Knitting Facctory Main
Space(NY) supporting Jarboe(Swans). Dates are now being
confirmed for the July Bellmer Dolls / Lion Fever US tour. Thanks
to
everyone who got drunk on Pope's blood with us at the record release
party.... New photos on our myspace site- have a look. AND-

04-04-05:
BAR 11
CANCELLED!!! We
won't even bother to list the numerous reasons and personages who
managed to poison what should have been an
exciting evening, as theye're just not worth mentioning (you can read
about it on our myspace site,
though). Just confirmed is a Knitting Factory date
supporting Jarboe (SWANS)
but unfortunately it won't happen until
May. Our new rehearsal space is flooded; oh the sorrows of this
band... This Thursday's
Death
Party: Mourn the dead Pope
with The Holey Trinity and
special guest celebrity DJ / (Nick
Cave and the
Bad Seeds') Jim Sclavunos, aka DJ Goofy. It'll be
the official release party of our first 7" record.
03-26-05:
NEXT
PERFORMANCE: BAR 11, NYC,
Wednesday April 6, support TBA.... Thanks to all who attended the
last
Death Party, and partook with us in the
Jesus Juice (take this host). cut to 1998: The sordid NYC
scene is
caught in the lens of Nanci Sarouf's
all-too-knowing camera, trouble-worshipping denizen of nighttime
excess, yours truly, by
no means an exception. We knew then that any record
of our antics might prove just buoyant enough
to surface through the subsequent layers of insubstantial
sewer-fluid that typifies
what's being sold as recreation nowadays. We just hoped anything
too incriminating might have the decency of
laying low awhile. Kudos to Christopher
Bollen, editor of the epic glossy V, who not only had the decency
to wait until just now to publish a collection of Nanci's
keepsakes, but also unearthed a
less-than-scathing portrait of myself for inclusion in the
article that resides in issue 33.
(P.M.)
03-24-05:
The 7"
EP's have arrived. The Diva
b/w Every Angel Is A Terror is available now. The first 100
copies of this limited run (666 in all) are pressed in
luscious green vinyl. Death
Party tonight- Neverland Ranch theme includes guest DJ Hott Deth
of The
Choke. Another tour is in the works...
03-09-05:
We
successfully navigated ourselves through our
west coast outing, not much worse for the wear
other than a
broken
amplifier,
a torn suit or
two, and possibly a bruised liver here or there. The humblest
respects go out to
Jennifer,
Casey, Jay, and Jason of Lion Fever;
they were accomodating, hilarious, super-supportive and threw fucking
stellar
performances. These were easily among our favorite shows,
an all-around
career
high. Plans
for future return dates are in the works.... Thanks to
Carlos and Paul of
Interpol for
showing
us a good time on various occassions during our coinciding dates.
Thanks also to Fresh
Kills
who played an inspiring set just before we hit the stage at
Trash. Anthony's currently working on
a suit for the
former
frontman
of a band
named after a variety of squash. The latest issue of LID ought to
be on the stands
by now;
look for a photo of Andy Warhol
and Susan Bottomly arising
from a trash can on the cover. Inside, Peter models Sinner Saint,
at least in the
photos where he manages to keep his shirt on.... The latest issue
of Black Book is on the
stands as
well, and features a profile on Anthony that includes mention of the
band, described as "post hardcore art punk". The Diva 7" is in
its final
steps as well, as the proofs have proven themselves acceptable.
More live dates to
follow. This Thursday's installment of The Death Party takes
place as
usual at Happy Endings.

02-12-05:
Thanks
to all who attended last Thursday's
special installment of The Death
Party, "The Death of Birth";
how far we are willing and able to drag out this absurd concept remains
to be seen. As it was a birthday celebration for Daniel that
evening, the
absurdity was in order. Anyway, thanks go to The
Bravery for being such good sports. They not only proved
capable of tolerating our strange
kind of wit, but they stayed on,
flying from
one debauch to the next, just short of the end. Actually, it was
not
one of theirs but Benny
from Parlour who saw the
Sun come up
in the best possible company...
01-22-05:
Lest we
forget: Daniel and I, and hopefully
Anthony if we can convince him, will be back hosting / spinning our
event, titled "The
Death Party" this Thursday at Happy Endings, Broome Street east
of Forsythe. Special DJ guests will be
handpicked from the usual crowd of lowlifes we tend to run with.
It will be the second
installment in our bi-weekly series, this one under the
chapter-heading "Nurse
with [Skrewdriver] Wound"; the first was witfully monikered "The Birth
of Death".
01-17-05:
We
are
embarking for the west coast in
mid-February for a sort of mini-tour with Lion Fever. Jennifer
Pearl
(of Lion Fever) has been instrumental in putting
everything together for us, for which we are inedebted. The
Diva will
be released as a limited edition 7" on Dogprint Records
(www.dogprint.com),
planned for arrival mid-February. With only 666 numbered
copies
to be produced, and touting a gorgeous full-color gatefold featuring a
fitting piece by Angelika Miodek
(www.angelikamiodek.com), it
will surely be worth at least twice its face value someday.
12-08-04:
Dan and I had a blast at last Thursday's "Visions of The Apocalypse"
party
that took place at Happy Endings. We were the honorary guest
dj's,
and did so until at least 7am, when the only "patron" left standing was
Bob, who also happens to manage and
bartend... Sheal (one of the evening's hosts) asked us to
stay on the permanent roster. I'm
already scouring the used bins, in hopes of finding that obscure
something to trump Dan with. It'll be no contest when Anthony
returns; his
collection is near-legendary, and I just don't have the time nor the
money to enter that rarified arena. We've
been confronted by various promoters regarding performances; we'll
accept the moment something interesting is thrown
our way.
11-14-04:
Thanks to all who attended our marathon-run of
performances during the past two months. We've been a bit scarce;
don't worry your precious little skulls, though, as we're
spending this performance hiatus working out new material. We've
now decided to develop a presence on myspace.com,
http://www.myspace.com/bellmerdolls.
Not much there you can't get here, except
some sillier photos, and,
of course, the chance to browse through some highly- idealized
portraits of "our friends"... Lest we
forget- a deep bow to the butcher-nurses + all else who attended Sin-e
on Halloween. Thanks also to Jason from Darkroom for
the debaucherous, seemingly never-ending afterparty, and of course also
to Amy, who helped deliver the
jack-o-lanterns to Darkroom, and threw an after-afterparty that made
the earlier one seem like
PG-13.
10-24-04:
SUNDAY,
OCTOBER 31ST***HALLOWEEN
WITH BELLMER DOLLS(12AM), SKELETON KEY(11PM), AND
STARLITE
DESPERATION(10PM) @
SIN-E,
ATTORNEY STREET AT DELANCEY,
NYC. The Fall/Winter issue of THE SENTIMENTALIST is out
now,
featuring both Bellmer Dolls and Sinner/Saint as photographed by Scott
Irvine. Ready for print is the
second issue of our favorite new aesthetic tome, dedicated to art /
music / style, LID, a large
format glossy b/w rag that'll feature a spread starring Peter in
Anthony's "personal" self-sewn ensemble, flanked by two vampy waifs
(the
Bellmerettes?). Our thanks to LION FEVER for making our last,
super-last minute performance at
Tommy's Tavern in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, a memorable and worthwhile
one. Peter continues his Monday night DJ residency at DARKROOM on
Ludlow, along with The Lovely/Mysterious Valentina.
10-10-04:
We're
completing arrangements for a Halloween
performance at Sin-e, 10-31-04, with STARLITE DESPERATION and SKELETON
KEY. We're scheduled for
midnight....
10-07-04: We
have
just
added a last-minute performance: TOMMOROW
NIGHT, starring PRETTY
GIRLS MAKE
GRAVES and THE FLESH,
at the Delancey, NYC. BELLMER
DOLLS will start the night's
festivities promptly at 9pm. Thanks to all who attended the last few
performances - the best is still to come.
Thanks also to Jeff from Coptic
Light who lent a bass amp while
Anthony's was in rehab, and Prosaics who honored us with their
invitation to perform at their release party.
09-19-04:
Our
first EP
"Never
Sates Nor Palls" is to be pressed
in
a limited quantity for self-release. Peter is DJing this Monday
at the Darkroom
on Ludlow Street for those who
enjoy subterranean
entertainment.... Anthony's become a slave to the needle once again (of
his sewing machine, that
is).
09-04-04:
This,
our
first posting on our new "news" page.
Anthony is in Austria. Daniel hurt his neck, but is enjoying
Vicodins. Recently completed is B-Dolls' rendition of "Blood
& Sand", a
favorite These Immortal Souls composition, slated for European release
on a compilation celebrating Rowland S. Howard.
Rumour has it Nikki Sudden and Howard himself will contribute.
